Barack Obama, Democratic Nominee for President of the United States
In a moment of party unity, during the roll call of states, the State of New Mexico yielded to Illinois who in turn yielded to New York. Introduced by Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton appeared on the convention. Following a motion from the floor of the Democratic National Convention in Denver by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, the roll call of states was suspended and the Senator Barack Obama was nominated by acclamation by delegates. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has informed the convention that Barack Obama has officially accepted the nomination and will give his acceptance speech tomorrow evening.
