Okay so there was a video to this, but I guess either FOX news or CNN had a hissy fit and it was pulled. Hop on over to CSPAN.org to see Hillary Clinton’s Final Campaign Rally. Here speech was incredible and she wholeheartedly endorsed Barack Obama. She spoke of her undying commitment to universal health care, and I truly believe she will be the point person on this in whatever capacity she serves in. There were no hints at her being open to be being Barack’s running mate, but I think now that all the infighting is done and we Democrats prepare to stand around and hold hands and sing kumbaya….okay, not that. Hillary showed class and dignity. She is a leader and force to be reckoned with. Obama would make a wise choice in picking her as Vice President. In this capacity she can devote 100% of her time to health care. This was a tough campaign. She deserves credit for getting support from a broad base of supporters, women AND MEN, Latinos and Asians, Rich and Poor, Urban and Rural voters. She’s made history and will continue to do so. She may not have broken the glass ceiling in the White House, but she has seriously cracked and dented it. I supported John Edwards early on. When he dropped out, it became a hard decision for me as to which candidate I would support – Hillary Clinton, my Senator, or Barack Obama. I ultimately decided on Obama, but I actually left my polling place in tears. I had to vote for Obama in the end, as I disagreed with Hillary’s Iraq War vote. It was a painful decision, as I have met Hillary Clinton many times and worked so hard on President Clinton’s 1992 campaign. But I am solidly anti-war. Edwards and Kucinich seemed to be the only candidates that were truly supportive of immediate withdrawal, and Edwards wiggled and waffled on that in a debate. Hillary ran a good campaign, but she made some serious mistakes, listened to Mark Penn way too much, (and paid him way too much) and concentrated to heavily on fundraising in the beginning. That leaked memo about not doing a full court press in Iowa also did not help. A win in Iowa would have delivered here the nomination. I believe she was also treated unfairly by the press, particularly that little weasel Tim Russert, throwing her curve balls about her husbands stands on the issues. The whole RFK remark was blown way out of proportion. In short, she was held to a different standard because she was a former first lady. It’s my hope that the candidates bypass the press and reach out to the voters in as many unfiltered forums as possible. We don’t need Tim Russert, Wolf Blitzer, or any other defining the candidates for us. Don’t worry Tim, we’ll see you on election night with your little tote board telling us how many electoral votes are needed to win. We all know that’s your night and that’s when we like you. We don’t like you when you are a little sneak playing gotcha with the candidates. You come across as that kid we all had in class who found mistakes teachers made in a test question or would beg for more homework for extra credit. So now Obama is taking a look at VP running mates. It’s his prerogative to look around and see what will work. But in the end, I think he should and will pick Hillary Clinton. This ticket will beat McCain and whatever tree sloth he selects as his running mate in November. A special thank you to Fox news for pulling the video off my blogs. You guys just proved to me again what insufferable pricks you really are.
