McCain Meets with VP Prospects, Happy Memorial Day

With most of the focus on the Hillary Clinton-Barack Obama battle for the Democratic nomination, John McCain, trying to keep it under the radar, is set to meet this weekend in Arizona with three VP prospects. The three: Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, Florida Governor Charlie Crist and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Jindal would probably be the most interesting choice, given his popularity in Louisiana, but could Romney or Crist help McCain do better in the battlegrounds? Well McCain has plenty of time to make his choice, the Republican National Convention is not until Labor Day weekend. Nothing new to report on the Democratic race with the exception that both candidates will be appearing in Florida and Michigan within the next few days. This is ahead of the May 31st meeting of the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee which will decide how many delegates and for which candidates will be seated at the convention from Florida and Michigan. This decision could have an impact on the nomination if it goes Hillary’s way. I’m heading to Montreal for the weekend, so technically, I’ll be out of the country. It will be nice to leave the good old USA behind, albeit for a few days. Canada is just so…normal. And to the person who emailed me complaining I did not give the GOP much coverage – well here you have it, and while politics is a big topic on this blog, it is a personal blog. So there does not have to be much balance here, but I try.
